Mrs. Fizzywiggle

Welcome!

Hello there! My name is Mrs. Fizzywiggle and I would like to thank you very much for coming! I hope you enjoy reading what I've posted so far. I just love to write things for you to read! Do you know what I especially love? When you tell me how much you enjoyed reading today! I've been writing little poems and stories for children since I was a young child. Do you know why? Because I loved to read books from my favorite author. Dr. Seuss!
I know that some of my writing is not as silly as his, but i'm sure that you will enjoy it just the same!
Please be sure to let me know what you think and Happy Reading!

Love,

Mrs. Fizzywiggle

A Note To Parents

Welcome to my Just for Kids blog!
Since my writing began at a very early age, I kept everything as it was written, ridiculous or not. I wanted the essence of the moment, age, and the progression through the years to be present to my readers, both children and parents.
Now that my children are grown and I have a grandchild, my writing has taken on a new meaning: Bring back to our children what they are losing - the written word. Stimulate their imaginations with words. Encourage them to create pictures in their minds of the characters I create as they travel on their
journeys. Jump in the book and take the journey with them.
The stories that I post on this site are what I like to call teasers or excerpts from my yet-to-be
published books. I am hoping that in the near future, I will be able to provide you with links to
purchase the complete stories so that you and your child/children can enjoy them many times.

School Rules

Hello Readers!

It has been quite a while since I wrote to you last.  I hope you have been well and have been enjoying school!

I'm sure some of you are in school for the first time, but I hope that you read my last post and feel better about it now.

I'm sure that starting school is very confusing.  There are a lot of new friends, teachers, and oh yes we can't forget...rules!  Every school has rules and it is very, very important to make sure you follow your teachers rules.  They help keep you safe and make it easy for you and all your new friends to learn as much as you can.

I have a little grandson that will be turning four years old soon and he is in school for the first time.  Oh he cried the first few days, but now he is having a wonderful time learning new things and playing with new friends!  He does have a little trouble with the rules though.  The hardest rule for him is walking in the hallway.  He loves to run but if he does, he may fall down and get hurt, or run into someone else and hurt them.  That wouldn't be good at all!

This is just one example of why it is very important to follow rules at school and even at home.  Your Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, Grandpa or whomever the adult is in your home make the rules to keep you and every one else safe.  Oh there will be times that you will forget the rules and that's ok, as long as you remember to follow them the best that you can!

I hope that all of my wonderful readers have so much fun at school and learn a lot of new things.  I can't wait to hear from each and every one of you!

Happy Reading!

Love,

Mrs. Fizzywiggle

Almost time for school!

Happy August Readers!

I'm sure that you all have been enjoying a wonderful summer filled with fun activities.   All to soon though, it will be coming to an end as school is going to begin soon!

I'm sure that some of you are happy to go back to school but I'm also sure that there are some of you young readers that are starting school for the very first time.  It can be kind of a scary thing.  It's ok to be scared about going to school, after all, you have never been there before! BUT remember, school can be a fun place too!

Do you like when Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, Grandpa or a big brother or sister read you a story before you go to bed at night?  I do too.  Do you know how they learned to read?  By going to school!  Being a good reader is a wonderful thing.  There are so many things you can learn from reading books!

The very first day you go to school is a fun day.  You learn all about your new classmates, where you are going to sit to learn many new wonderful things, you get to explore all the different parts of the classroom and even get to go outside to play!

If you have a big brother or sister that already goes to school, ask them to tell you what its like and if it is as scary as you think it is.  If you are the big brother or sister and have already been to school, help your little brother or sister so that they aren't afraid!

No matter what, always remember that school is a wonderful place to learn new things, meet wonderful new friends and have lots of fun too!

Enjoy the rest of your summer, and remember - Happy Reading!

Summer Fun

Hello Readers!

Boy it's really been a long time since I have written anything!  I have been so very busy this summer, I haven't had a chance to write to my favorite readers!  What have you been doing this summer?  Have you been busy?

Summer is such a wonderful time of the year!  You may be on a break from school, or you may be starting school for the very first time at the end of the summer.  No matter what, summer is the time for lots of fun!

We recently celebrated the Fourth of July.  Did you?  I absolutely love all the different colored fire works!  They are just so beautiful!  Sometimes they can be very loud but if you cover your ears, it sounds much better and may not be as scary if you are still little.

Picnics are also a wonderful fun thing to do in the summer.  The whole family can get together and have delicious hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken and lots and lots of yummy watermelon!

Days during the summer can get very, very hot.  Do you know what I like to do when I get really hot?  That's right!  I go swimming!  My favorite place to swim is in a swimming pool, but you can go to a lake or even to the ocean!  Have you ever gone swimming in the ocean and played in the waves that come up to the shore?  Isn't that fun? :)

Whether you like picnics, swimming or just playing with friends, it's nice to enjoy time in the summer to just have fun.  Before you know it, school will start again and there won't be as much time to play outside with your friends because it's very important to make sure you do good in school.

Until next time, Happy Reading!

My Friend Zebu

Good  Morning Readers!

I was wondering if you can help me with something?  I am writing a wonderful story about a little spaceman, but haven't finished it yet.  I was wondering if you would read the first chapter and let me know what you think?  I would love some new ideas too!  What would you like to see happen in this story?  What sort of adventures should Zebu and Joey go on?

Oh I know my readers have absolutely wonderful imaginations and I just cant wait to hear from each and every one of you!

Please enjoy!

Love,

Mrs. Fizzywiggle

My Friend Zebu

Chapter I – The Arrival

I can’t really remember the exact date I met him but I know it was in the summer of 1985.  Sometime in July.  It was a warm and bright sunny day and I could feel the heat on my back as I walked.  At the time, I was headed for the lake to go swimming.  Well, needless to say, I never made it.

I heard a loud noise coming from the woods and since I tend to be the curious type, I decided to investigate.  I walked about through the bushes and thorns and finally I found what I was looking for.   It was a little blue and white spaceship!
It looked like the kind of spaceship you would see in a cartoon.  The dome on top was clear glass and the body was blue with a white pin-stripe all the way around.  It was cute in a way but it was also unusual.
I walked slowly towards the ship and just as I was about to touch it, a tiny little space man jumped out!  I landed right on my bottom. That’s how startled I was!

“WHAT IS YOUR NAME?” I asked him slowly and rather loud.

“My name is Zebu, and please stop yelling.  What’s yours?”

“My name is Joey.” I answered. “I’m sorry for talking so loud.”

“Nice to meet you Joey and I’m sorry if I scared you.”

“That’s ok. By the way, where did you come from?” I asked.

There was a short pause and then Zebu finally answered.

“I come from a planet called Zultra.  I was sent here by my people to observe your planet from the surface.  We have been observing you for many light years from our planet and now we have come to the decision that we must observe your planet from the surface as well.”

“But why have you been doing that? Are you planning something?”

“No Joey, not at all.  We would just like to be friends with your planet.”

“Oh, that’s okay I guess.  Just don’t vaporize me or anything if you get mad ok?  I don’t think my mom would like it too much.”

“I don’t vaporize earthlings Joey.  I come from a very peaceful planet.  We only had to fight one time and we didn’t even start it.”

“What happened?” I asked him.

“You see Joey, many of your Earth years ago; my planet was at war with another planet called Zetro.  Zetro had a mean and powerful leader who would stop at nothing to get what he wanted.  Even if it meant the death of many Zultrans.”  His voice was sad.

“But why your planet? What did you have that he wanted to bad?”

“On our planet is a very rare mineral called Zlint.  It is used to power our space crafts and our weapons as well.  That’s what he wanted.”

“Oh, I get it.” I answered.  “He wanted the mineral so he could power all his weapons to gain control over the planets in your galaxy!” I continued.

“That’s right.  Thousands of my people were killed and as a result, my people became very angry and eventually ended up destroying the not-so-great planet Zetro.” Zebu sounded a little angry too.

“Oh, that’s awful Zebu.  I’m so sorry to hear about what happened on your planet.”

“Thank you Joey.  Well, now that you know the history of my planet, we don’t need to discuss this matter any further! I have an idea, how about you and I take a flight in my spaceship?” Zebu asked.

“I’d love to! Lead the way”

Zebu took me inside his spaceship and as I stepped inside, my eyes just about popped out of my head!  Inside that tiny little space ship was enough room to fit a house.  Wall to wall computers, flashing lights, a whole bunch of different controls and believe it or not directions on how to fly it!

“Zebu, I was just noticing something. Why are there directions in your spaceship?  Don’t you know how to fly it?” I asked.

“I know how to fly it. Those are for my people who are just learning how to fly.  It can get very confusing at times.”

“Do you think I would be able to fly it?  I mean, would you show me how?” I asked.

“Sure, I’ll show you how.  It may be a little difficult at first, so I’ll coach you along.”

His voice was filled with excitement as he spoke to me.  I don’t think he ever had anyone ask him to teach them how to fly. I could tell he wanted to teach me just as much as I wanted to learn.
We finally got the craft off the ground and headed for space.  We went all around the galaxy.  I saw many different planets including Zultra and what was left of Zetro.  It was an awful sight.  The way the planet looked, everything must have been destroyed.

After flying around for what seemed like hours, we started to head back to earth.  I was so excited I couldn’t even talk!  I wanted to do it all over again.  Zebu brought it in for the landing and when we got back to Earth, I noticed it was getting dark so I told Zebu that I had to start heading home.

“Please don’t go Joey.  Stay here for the night.  I don’t want to stay alone.”
“But Zebu, my house is much more comfortable and a lot cooler than your space ship.  My parents won’t mind if you stay with us.  They would be excited.  Why don’t you stay with us?”

“I don’t know Joey.  After all, I am kind of funny looking and a little strange in many ways.”

“Oh, don’t worry about it Zebu.  My mom will be fine with you.  She’s cool like that.”

“Well, I don’t know.”

“Aw, Come on Zebu.  Tomorrow I can show you around and we’ll talk some more.  What-da-ya-say?”

“Ok Joey.  I’ll just get a few things and then we can go.”

I waited outside the spaceship for him and while I was waiting, I just stared up at all the stars that were beginning to show in the night sky, wondering about all the unknown galaxies up there.  I started to wander off into a daze when I heard Zebu coming out.

“I’m all ready Joey.  You lead the way this time.  I’m afraid I would get us quite lost.”

“Ok.  Let’s go!” I shouted

Side by side Zebu and I walked toward my house.  We didn’t say much, we just walked.  After a couple of minutes, Zebu stopped walking and turned his head towards me.  I think it was his way to make sure I knew he wanted to say something that he felt was important.

“I like you Joey.” He said.

“I like you too, Zebu.”  I said with a smile.

That made me feel really good inside.  I started to think to myself that I would never not like Zebu.  I would always be his friend.  No matter what happened I couldn’t help but get excited about my new friend and what we were going to do next.  This was going to be a great summer.  I just knew it.

Rainy Day Blues

Hello Readers!

I was thinking that it has been a very long time since I put anything new up for you youngsters to read.  It was very hard to decide what to put here for you because all the rain outside was making me very sad!  Why is it making me sad?  Well, let me tell you!

I love to look outside and see the sun shining, a bird or two in my yard, or maybe some pretty flowers!  Sitting outside in the sunshine feels so nice and warm!  When it rains, the sun is hiding in the clouds, the birds are in their nests hiding from the rain and the flowers, well, while I can see them in the rain, they don't look as pretty as they do when the sun is shining down on them!

I bet you like to play outside, don't you?  I have a little 3 year old grandson that has so much fun outside!  He runs and plays, climbs on his play house, rides his toy car or helps his Pepe in the garden.  What kind of things do you like to do outside?  I would love to hear some of your favorite things to do!

If you feel sad about rainy days like I do just remember this.  Pretty soon the rain is going to go away.  If you are lucky, you might even see a rainbow when its gone, but you will most certainly be able to play outside!

While you are in the house, why not sit with Mommy or Daddy and read your favorite book, or draw a wonderful picture of something you like?  You may have to think about it or ask Mommy and Daddy for help, but i'm sure you can find something fun and wonderful to do while you wait for the sun to come out again!

Happy Reading!

Its Not Nice To Hit!

Dear Readers,

I wanted to write a letter to you because I have a little grandson that is 3 years old, and he has started hitting.  He is still learning to share in his preschool and when another child takes a toy from him, instead of using his nice words like "Please give that back to me" or "Please don't take that from me", he hits the other child.

Hitting is  not nice at all.  Not only does it hurt the other child that you are hitting, but it hurts you too because you get punished for your bad behavior.  My grandson lives with me so when he hits, he has to go to bed early and gets no TV when he gets home from school.  That makes him very, very sad because he likes to watch all his favorite shows on Sprout before he goes to bed.

I know that sometimes you don't want to share, or sometimes one of your school friends may do something that makes you mad.  In either case it's very important to try really, really hard to remember to use your nice words instead of hitting.  If you still have a hard time, even after using nice words, you can always find a grownup to help you.

So remember - We need to always be nice to our friends, even if they make us angry. So practice using your nice words and always keep your hands to yourself!

Happy Reading!

Love,

Mrs.

Hooray for Spring!

Hooray for Spring!
The sun is out
the weather is warm
there is no doubt!

We play outside
it's a wonderful thing!
We run through the grass,
we dance, we sing!

The flowers bloom
so pretty, so bright!
New leaves on the trees
what a wonderful sight!

New Baby animals,
so tiny and sweet.
The soft green grass
Beneath our feet.

Hooray for Sun,
for everything,
But most of all
Hooray for Spring!

It's Almost Easter!

Good Morning Readers!

I woke up this morning and looked at my calendar and realized that it's almost Easter! Are you excited?  I know I would be!
In just a few days, you will get a visit from someone very exciting.  Do you know who that is?  Thats right! Its the Easter Bunny!
Oh, I'm sure you know that you have to be very good for the Easter Bunny to come to your house!  Whether he leaves you toys, candy or other goodies in your Easter Basket, it's very, very important that you be good for your mommy and daddy.  I know sometimes its very hard to be good, but I know that you can do your very best to make Mommy and Daddy proud of you (and the Easter Bunny too!).

I would love to hear what you do for Easter!  Do you go to a relatives house? (thats what another person in your family is called) Do you help color Easter Eggs?   Please let me know how you spend your day!
Some people don't celebrate Easter, but have other springtime holidays that they celebrate.  I would love to share in your celebration!

No matter how you celebrate, everything and everyone is just as special as the next person so we must always remember not to tease or make fun of someone just because they celebrate differently!

Have a wonderful Spring and Happy Reading!

Love,

Mrs. Fizzywiggle

Don't Say No!

Do you say no to Mom or Dad?
When you are feeling a little mad?
It's time to stop your play to eat,
You come inside  "Please wipe your feet!"

You tell Mom "NO! my feet are clean!"
You sound quite stern, and very mean.
Mom looks at you and shakes her head,
"I don't think I heard what you said!"

"Did you say no to wipe your feet?
I can say no when its time to eat!
No food for you, no snack no drink!
Your belly will be hungry, what do you think?"

"Would you like me to say no to you
When you ask for help to tie your shoe?
For a hug in the morning or a kiss at night?
Do you think saying no would be alright?"

"I think that you would be very sad
If I told you no whenever you had
something you needed me to help you do,
You would not like it very much, would you?"

"I would not." you said with quiet voice
Knowing that you needed to make the right choice.
You stood for just one minute more
Then wiped your feet as you came in the door.

To my Readers:  It's ok to be angry sometimes, or not want to do something, but your Mommy and Daddy love you very, very much and it is important to be good listeners!

Stick Man and the Bug

Stick Man and the Bug

It happened quite a long time ago.  around 20 years to be exact.  It was a very interesting part of my summer vacation.  A part that I will not soon forget.
I think it was around July 4th.  The summer was really hot, all the holiday picnics were in full swing on my block. The smell of grilled burgers and hot dogs was penetrating the nostrils of every person within a mile radius.  Boy was it an awesome aroma.  Made your mouth water and your stomach rumble.  Sorry, I'm getting off track here.
I was tired of the usual cheek pinching that was going on with all my older female relatives, so i decided to grab my bike and take off for a ride.
Boy was it hot.  I'm not sure how far i got before i had to stop and rest.  I found the perfect spot - in the shade under an old maple tree. Ahhhhh.  Peace and quiet.  No more cheek pinching.  Just me and the tree.  It was wonderful.  I told myself that i was just going to lay down in the grass for a minute...........

"Hey.  Hey boy!  Wake up!"  I opened my eyes and wasnt quite sure what i was looking at.  "Boy - where did you come from?" I was asked.
"um. my house?" I responded, quite confused.
I was starting to wake up a little more.  It was unusual, but i was talking to.... well, to a stick.
"What do you call yourself boy?" "he" asked
"Ben" I replied
"Well Ben - please come with me."
I got up and followed, reluctantly i might add.  He was a stick alright.  But a stick-man.  You know, like the ones you draw on a piece of paper. Everyone was a stick that i saw.  Now i KNOW that i was dreaming.  It was still a little scary, but interesting at the same time.

My Pony

This poem was the first thing I ever wrote.  I was 9 years old at the time.

My Pony

I have a little pony
His coat is silver gray.
If anyone tries to catch him,
He always runs away.

I haven't found a name for him
I hope I will someday.
I don't know what to call him now,
So how about Old Gray?

That doesn't sound very nice
And neither does Old Rusty.
How about Suncora,
Mandy, Bell or Dusty?

I think I'll stick with Dusty,
That sounds very pleasing!
Oops! I have to go now,
My little pony's sneezing!

I thank you all for reading this
While I was thinking of a name.
You all are nice for doing that
And Dusty says just the same.

Molly's Flower

Molly's Flower

“Is it time yet Mommy?”  Molly asked

“Not yet Molly.  Why don’t you go outside and play with Buttercup for a while?”

Molly went outside to play with Buttercup like Mommy told her to.  Boy did she love Buttercup.  He was a big yellowy colored dog that Mommy and Daddy called a golden-treever. Molly remembered when Daddybrought him home.  Daddy asked Molly what name would be good for him.  Molly thought for a minute and came up with a very special name for her new puppy.

  “He is Buttercup, Daddy!”

“Buttercup” earned his name because he was yellow and Molly loved yellow because it was the color of so many beautiful flowers.

Molly picked up a ball and started throwing it to Buttercup.  Playing catch was one of their favorite games.  Molly would throw the ball and he would bounce after it, pick it up and would always bring it back to Molly.  Buttercup would drop the ball at Molly’s feet hoping that she would throw it for him again.

After what seemed like they were playing catch forever, Molly decided to go into the back yard and pick some pretty flowers for Mommy. Buttercup wanted to go too, so he ran in a big circle around Molly as she jumped over sticks, twirled like a ballerina, and hopped like a bunny.  That was the fun way to get to the back yard.

When Molly finally finished dancing her way into the back yard, she saw that Daddy was outside watering the garden.. Molly didn’t really like that garden. It wasn’t pretty because there were no flowers – just yucky vegables!

Molly went to her favorite spot in the back yard under a big maple syrup tree.  She picked five beautiful flowers for Mommy, because Molly was five, called Daddylions.  At least that’s what she heard Mommy call them.  They grew around the tree all the time.

“I wonder what Mommylions look like?” she asked herself aloud. “Maybe they are the white fuzzy ones you blow away.”
